Landscape- Led Cemetery Design

Conservation work in the cemetery landscape brought a keen awareness of changing burial practice over the centuries and the pressures on cemetery provision today.

My curiosity to understand how and why burial practice and cemetery design in Britain has evolved to this point led to research at Bath University- ‘Ritual and Belief’ and collaboration with associated cemetery consultants and providers.

Memorial, legacy, sanctuary, ecology and community are just a few of the words that surround the cemetery and
‘running out of space’ as they are, thoughtful and intentional design for future provision needs due recognition.
Landscape-led, sustainable cemetery design is a professional and personal interest – collaboration with others in this field, is welcome.
